Traveling Commercial Journeyman Plumber

Position Summary 

The Commercial Journeyman Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in commercial buildings according to project specifications, local codes, and safety regulations. This role requires advanced plumbing skills, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and experience working on large-scale projects. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial plumbing systems, including gas piping, water supply lines, drainage systems, fixtures, and related equipment. 

  • Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications. 

  • Inspect work sites to determine material needs and ensure work complies with local plumbing codes and regulations. 

  • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and other trades to complete projects on time and within budget. 

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing problems, recommending effective solutions. 

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, pipe cutters, threading machines, and other specialized plumbing equipment safely. 

  • Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company safety policies at all times. 

  • Mentor and guide apprentices, providing on-the-job training and skill development. 

  • Complete required documentation, work orders, and reports accurately. 

Qualifications 

  • Valid Journeyman Plumber license/certification (state-specific). 

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial plumbing experience. 

  • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, safety procedures, and best practices. 

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and schematics. 

  • Proficient in using plumbing tools and equipment. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Physical stamina to lift heavy materials, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods. 

Skills 

  • Backflow prevention certification. 

  • Welding or soldering skills. 

  • Experience with medical gas systems or specialized commercial plumbing systems. 

Work Environment 

  • Work performed in commercial construction sites, remodels, and occupied facilities. 

  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and physical hazards. 

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
