Our client, a leading provider of data centres, is seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day technical operations at a high-profile facility in Slough. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, compliance, and performance of critical engineering systems while providing leadership and coordination across the on-site engineering team.

 

The Role

The Engineering Supervisor will act as a key technical lead, managing a team of engineers and subcontractors to deliver both planned and reactive maintenance. Working closely with senior management, you will ensure operational excellence, audit readiness, and compliance with health and safety standards. You will also serve as an Authorised Person for high- and low-voltage systems, taking responsibility for safe systems of work and technical guidance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of engineers, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard.
  • Oversee planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and statutory compliance testing.
  • Act as HV Authorised Person, managing safe systems of work, permits, and switching schedules.
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and development for engineering staff, ensuring continual upskilling and competency.
  • Support and drive a strong safety culture, ensuring all work complies with H&S standards, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Contribute to technical audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce technical reports, compliance audits, and input into client and management reporting.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on critical maintenance practices and risk management methodologies (CERM).

 

Candidate Profile

  • Recognised Electrical qualification (Apprenticeship, HND, City & Guilds).
  • 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations – essential.
  • Previous experience operating in a data centre or critical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UPS, standby power, cooling systems, and BMS/HVAC.
  • IOSH or equivalent H&S training (NEBOSH desirable).
  • Experience with emergency response, standby and call-out procedures.
  • Management and supervisory experience essential, with strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of water hygiene (L8) desirable.
  • Proficient IT skills, including MS Office; familiarity with compliance and risk platforms an advantage.
