Our client, a rapidly expanding international organisation within the technology and infrastructure sector, is seeking an accomplished HR Manager to lead the human resources function in Japan. This is a pivotal position for a fast-growth business, combining strategic oversight with hands-on delivery across recruitment, compliance, and employee engagement.
The Role
The HR Manager will take full ownership of the HR agenda in Japan, working closely with senior leaders to attract top talent, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a high-performing culture. Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for the Japan market, from role definition through to onboarding, ensuring a seamless candidate experience.
- Partner with business leaders to source critical talent and drive employer branding initiatives to position the organisation as an employer of choice.
- Ensure compliance with Japanese labour laws, maintaining accurate HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Oversee HR operations including payroll, contracts, benefits administration, and HRIS management.
- Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, supporting conflict resolution, engagement initiatives, and workplace culture.
- Manage performance management processes, coaching managers on goal setting, feedback, and career development.
- Collaborate with global HR teams to align local practices with broader business objectives.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in human resources, with expertise across recruitment, operations, and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese labour legislation and HR best practices.
- Proven track record in talent acquisition and employer branding.
- Fluent in both Japanese and English.
- Experience using Workday or a similar HRIS system advantageous.
- A self-starter with resilience, adaptability, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with operational delivery.
