Senior Commissioning Manager

Our client, a global leader in digital infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager to lead the end-to-end commissioning process for large-scale data centre builds. This senior role is critical to ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and control systems are rigorously tested, validated, and seamlessly handed over to operations and clients, meeting the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

The Role

The Senior Commissioning Manager will take ownership of commissioning strategy, planning, and execution across complex, mission-critical projects. This includes developing commissioning plans and protocols, managing multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing rigorous testing of all major systems. Acting as the primary client liaison during the commissioning phase, the successful candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in strict compliance with industry standards and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage commissioning strategies, schedules, and budgets.
  • Define commissioning scope, phases (FAT, SAT, IST), and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead and mentor commissioning teams, including internal staff and third-party agents.
  • Oversee testing and validation of electrical, mechanical, control, fire protection, and security systems.
  • Manage Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and ensure seamless system integration.
  • Ensure quality assurance, compliance with codes and standards, and strict safety practices.
  • Oversee resolution of commissioning issues, defects, and non-conformances.
  • Deliver comprehensive commissioning documentation, reports, and turnover packages.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on progress and risks.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline; advanced qualifications (CxA, PMP, PE, CDCDP) advantageous.
  • 10–15 years’ commissioning experience in critical facilities, with at least 5 years in large-scale data centres.
  • Proven track record managing full commissioning lifecycles on hyperscale or enterprise-level projects.
  • Hands-on expertise with HV systems, UPS, generators, cooling plants, BMS/EPMS, and fire protection.
  • Strong understanding of Tier standards, redundancy configurations (N, N+1, 2N), and operational requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a market-leading organisation and play a pivotal role in delivering mission-critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead complex commissioning programmes, ensuring flawless execution while supporting the expansion of world-class digital facilities in one of the fastest-growing sectors globally.
